Superhero photo shoot - Poison Ivy

Here is the first design in the superhero collection that I've been working on. This one is of Poison Ivy from the Batman comic books. I wanted to use areas of the original design from the comics and add my own twist to it - so no spandex body suit here!

Wow this has been a strange summer so far. I got a job in a local coffee shop and I've been there every single day basically. also there's been the uni summer project to get working on .... researching and drawing a male and female costume from every decade between 1600 and 1899..... joy.

BUT!

My work has been discovered by the comic book community of Melksham and I've been asked to display and sell some of my work in some local shops - including making a full fairy costume with 4ft wings for a local glass painter to wear to a renaissance fayre.

Super hero costume designs

My housemate has decided that for her 21st birthday she wants us to dress up as hero's and villains and go clubbing - so naturally I am on call to design and make everyone's costumes. I am going to use this as an opportunity to set up a styling shoot. It's probably best as we all know that after we've been to the club the costumes will be in no fit state to photograph.

Wedding wedding wedding!

I know that I haven't posted in a very long time, I've had lots going on what with moving house, making things for people and having rabbits operated on. In fact, I'm thinking of starting another blog about rabbits as I've learnt so much since having Pippin and Binky that I think it all needs to be shared! Anyway, my latest project has been making a dress for the mother of a very good friend of mine. She was wearing it to my friends wedding, and actually we did most of it together - which was really fun! When we weren't getting confused by pattern diagrams. Here are some photos so you can see how it turned out.

My fitting went great :D I still need to take it in though. As my lecturer said, my model can still breathe so it's not tight enough!

I have my first fitting with my model for the corset I have been working on tomorrow. I am ready but a little worried in case something goes wrong. I'll upload photos of the garment tomorrow! Wish me luck x

Possible New Buys

So I never really thought about buying supermarket clothes, because I tend not to shop at places that are big enough to have the clothing line. For example, the Tesco Express down the road. Today I went on the tesco website looking at what appliances they have... and as girls do I accidentally strayed onto the clothing section of the website. I was pleasantly surprised....
